Georgia Strait Alliance |
|
| Since 1990, the Georgia Strait Alliance (GSA) has brought people together to protect the marine environment and promote the sustainable use of marine resources. GSA is unique among BC's environmental community as we're the only group focused on the whole bioregion of the Strait of Georgia.
GSA’s work is all about making stewardship and sustainability real in people’s daily lives, and we are making a difference. The Strait of Georgia is the unique and beautiful inland sea that separates Vancouver Island from mainland British Columbia, around which three-quarters of BC’s population lives. Rich in wildlife and biodiversity, these waters are a year-round magnet for tourists but pollution; industrial activities, development and poor fisheries management are taking their toll. Some fish stocks have collapsed and the Strait’s killer whales are now officially endangered. However, it’s not too late to turn the tide. Caring people are working hard to restore the health of our coastal waters. |
